Things To Do In The Maldives Making It An Unforgettable Holiday

The Maldives offers a wonderland of activities for every visitor. With the clear blue seas and unforgettable white sandy beaches, it is no wonder so many people flock to these islands each year.

There are plenty of things to do in the Maldives, depending on your budget. We have listed just a few ideas that will make sure your Maldivian holiday is one you will never forget.

Diving

The Maldives is well known for its diving with gorgeous coral reef and tropical fish, it is a perfect place for new and experienced divers. Check with the guest house where you are staying to see what dive centre they recommend on the island where you are staying. Prices and standards will vary so it is better to get recommendations from the locals!

Surfing

Many people don’t associate surfing with the Maldives but there are some fabulous spots for surfing. Make sure that the island you are staying offers some good waves or you may be willing to island hop to find some good waves to surf, but once again enquire before your trip as some islands are more remote than others. Surfing season in the Maldives is from May – December.

Photo flights

If you want a real treat, you can book a sea plane or ‘air taxi’ to take you on a trip above the beautiful islands. This is where you can take breath taking Ariel photos of the islands from above. These trips can be a little more costly for the budget traveller but if you can stretch your budget, you won’t be disappointed.

Snorkelling

The team at Go to the Maldives love snorkelling in the Maldives the best. Why? Well not only do you get to see the most beautiful sea life including sea turtles and Nemo’s but you don’t necessarily have to pay for it. Many guest houses offer snorkels and fins for free for you to use down at bikini beach. If you want to book a small trip through your guest house, they will happily accommodate you and often you will see Manta rays and more sea turtles, sometimes even sharks.

Island hopping

There are a number of ways to island hop in the Maldives and enjoy excursions depending on your budget. There are local ferries that run between islands and can be a very cheap way to see different islands, take note depending on which guest house you are staying at, some trips will be quite long – but let’s face it none of us are in a hurry in the Maldives! There are also some very affordable day trips organised by tour agents as well as your guest house. It is well worth visiting other islands, as well as uninhabited islands which can be organised via your guest house.
