The island is fairly large and is home to the domestic airport that serves Baa Atoll, connecting the atoll to Male 116.30 km away by an 18 minute domestic flight. The airport is positioned on the opposite side of the island to the guesthouse and Hanifaru Bay. The main economy is Tourism, including the airport but fishing is still a source of income and some land is used for agriculture. There are a number of restaurants and locals shops on the island but it is its location which makes it an ideal base for snorkelers and divers wishing to experience encounters with the protected marine life.
