Night net Baseball MLB null Illinois is the latest state to say online daily fantasy sports contests are illegal under state law.Lisa Madigan, the state's attorney general, issued an opinion Wednesday that said daily fantasy sports betting "plays a game of chance or skill fo

r money,” according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Madigan said the proposal is pending legislation that would exempt daily fantasy sports under that law. Traditional fantasy games are exempted because it's played over a period of time, whereas daily fantasy games take place in a single day or just a week.Unlike New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Madigan didn't issue a cease-and desist order for the daily fantasy sports sites DraftKings and FanDuel. The games are banned in New York as the parties sort through a messy litigation process.Other states, most recently California, have followed New York's lead in considering the legality of DFS games under state law. Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana Washington and Nevada already do not allow daily contests.
